In this tutorial, I’ll be taking you through the steps to use Pika Art 1.0, covering everything from logging in to exploring its many features, including prompt generation, editing options, and video enhancements.
The tool has recently been updated, and many of the barriers for new users, such as the waiting list and technicalities of using Discord, have been removed.
How to Log In to Pika Art 1.0
You can easily log in to Pika Art via their website.
You’ll find two methods to access the platform:
- Google Login: Simply enter your email ID and password to log in.

Note: The waiting list that was previously in place has been removed, so you can log in immediately without any delays.
Exploring Pika Art 1.0 Features
Dashboard Overview
After logging in, you’ll find two main tabs on the homepage:
Explore: This is where you’ll find new creations and inspirations from other users.
My Library: This is your personal workspace where you can save all your experiments and creations.
Creating Your First Artwork
At the bottom of the dashboard, you’ll notice a section titled “Describe Your Story”, where you can enter your prompts.
For this demonstration, I entered the prompt:
“Beautiful cyberpunk female mad scientist, hyper-detailed with goggles.”
Here’s a step-by-step guide to creating your first artwork:
- Enter Your Prompt: Type your prompt into the text box provided.
- Generate: Click on the generate button. You’ll receive 30 free credits upon signing up, with each generation costing 10 credits.
- Note: If you’ve already generated one artwork, 10 credits will be deducted from your balance.
- Review Your Output: After a few seconds, your generated image or video will appear. In this case, I generated a short 3-second video clip, which looked great in terms of details and style.
Understanding the Video Length Limitations
The first video you generate will be limited to 3 seconds. This is normal for the initial creation. You have various options to edit or enhance the generated content, but for longer videos, there are a few limitations in the free version.
Editing and Retrying Prompts
Pika offers several ways to tweak or refine your generated outputs. Below are the key editing features:
1. Retry Option
If you’re unsatisfied with your initial generation, Pika offers a Retry button, which generates a new result using the same prompt.
Keep in mind that not every retry will give you perfect results.
Example: In one of my retries, the output was far less appealing than the original. It’s important to experiment and find what works best for you.
2. Reprompt Option
The Reprompt option allows you to take an existing output and modify its prompt. Here’s how it works:
- Select the Reprompt Option: This will bring up the previous prompt at the bottom of the screen.
- Edit the Prompt: Make the necessary changes to the text. For example, in my case, I changed “mad scientist” to “beautiful cyberpunk female in the streets of New York City.”
- Generate Again: Click the button to regenerate the image or video.
The result was a stunning cyberpunk female set against a New York backdrop.
The flexibility of this option allows you to experiment with various settings to achieve your desired output.
Advanced Editing Options
If you want more control over specific areas of your creation, Pika offers additional editing tools.
1. Modify Region
With this tool, you can select a specific area of the image or video and alter it.
Here’s how to use the Modify Region tool:
- Step 1: Click on Edit, and then choose Modify Region.
- Step 2: Select the part of the image or video you want to modify.
- Step 3: Adjust the prompt according to your needs. In my case, I removed the goggles and clicked generate.
However, be mindful that sometimes these edits can alter the overall appearance of your creation slightly, so always review your output carefully.
2. Expand Canvas
If you need to adjust the aspect ratio of your video, Pika allows you to expand the canvas. This is particularly useful when switching between different screen sizes (e.g., mobile vs. desktop).
- Default Ratio: 16:9
- Mobile-Friendly Ratio: 9:16
You can choose the ratio that suits your output requirements.
Extending Video Duration: Add 4 Seconds
Pika also offers an Add 4 Seconds option, allowing you to extend your video length.
However, there’s a trade-off: the quality of the video might suffer slightly as you extend the duration.
Here’s what I observed:
Initial Clip: 3 seconds of smooth animation.
After Adding 4 Seconds: The animation began to distort around the 5th second mark. This can impact the clarity of your final output, so be cautious when extending videos.
Upscaling Your Image or Video
Upscaling is another valuable feature, allowing you to increase the resolution of your creation. However, this feature is not available in the basic plan.
If you have access to the upscaling feature, here’s how to use it:
- Text Prompts Only: Upscaling works best with text prompts, not images or videos.
- Generate: Click on the upscale button, and Pika will enhance the resolution of your output.
Animating MidJourney Images in Pika
One of Pika’s most exciting features is the ability to animate images generated by MidJourney or other AI image generation tools.
Here’s how you can animate an image in Pika:
- Import Image: Select an image from your device or gallery.
- Animate: Choose the Image to Video option, and Pika will animate the still image.
I tested this feature with an image I generated in MidJourney, and Pika Art produced a simple yet captivating animation. The possibilities for creating dynamic content from static images are impressive.
Conclusion
That wraps up the tutorial for Pika Art 1.0. From prompt generation to editing and animating images, Pika offers a wide range of features to enhance your creativity. Remember to experiment with different prompts, retry and reprompt as needed, and use the advanced editing tools for more refined outputs.
